FWIW - newegg.com  was selling 1TB drives for like $120 bucks last week.... might have been a one day special - but they have GREAT prices..

    500GB - $100, that's better than most internal drives!

Newegg's always the solution (unless you're looking for really discounted... like $25 used or some such. In which case I'll just butt out).

Ya know, you think that, but then randomly in 3 months I predict you're staring at it thinking "How the heck did my ~/data/media folder get to be 500GB?" and buying a second...

Nah, I just prefer to rip all my CD's/DVD's onto my server so I can enjoy them without leaving my [bedroom|living room|couch|office|patio] as I'm [about to nap|drinking|working|grilling], ya dig? Something to be said for always having access to all those CDs, without ever needing the actual CD around.

Nah, most of that is movies, not music. I hate having to go downstairs to get a DVD to watch (or worse, loaning something out that I then discover I want to watch). My music's around 30GB-40GB, not entirely sure right now.

Why order two when Newegg has a 1TB for $159 right now?

Redundancy. Ever lose 1TB of data?

    But that's just my opinion.
