    Mixing tires

my rear pilot powers has a hole and i dont think patching it or plugging it is going to fix the tire.   so i ordered a new rear tire but got the pilot road 2.  the road 2 are suppose to give me more mileage.  i would like to get more then 3500-4000 miles on a set of tires.

does anyone think its a bad idea to not getting the same compound of tire?  the roads are dual compound,  middle is medium and outer of the tire is soft.  i think i'll be fine when the road is dry since the powers have more grip then the road 2.  my concern is riding in the rain because the road 2 suppose to have better traction in the wet.  i'm worried about washing out the front tires in the rain.

maybe its best to just order a set of front tires also. Tongue Tied

I honestly wouldn't worry about it at all.

    Re: Mixing tires

you'll be fine.  you really only notice the difference in characteristics of tires when you push them near their limits.  i have a pirelli on the front and a bridgestone on the rear of the 400 and still rail it fairly hard.

the pilot powers get really good traction in the wet,  so i wonder how a pilot road 2 is supposed top get better mileage (harder compound?)  and still have better traction than the pilot power (in the wet)...  Hmm

Like others said you'll be fine. I know folks who do track days with a Sport tire M1 on front and Touring tire Z6 on rear.

Now stick a MX knobby on one end and you might have issues.

Just slowly test the waters with the new tire.
