An OIL Question...

Hey guys, I haven't ridden my bike (nor started it) in almost a year since I last winterized it fall of '07. I had just changed the oil and put a new k&n air filter in it. I also removed the battery. When I go home in October to ride it for a week or so, and then another week in November, is there anything I should do it before I winterize it again? Is it going to be ok to ride around on one year old oil? I do not do my own maintenance so I'm hoping I will just be able to ride it on the same oil and gas. Bare in mind that the oil is 2 years old and it maybe has 50-70 miles on it...if that.

...Sorry for the confusion. The oil is 2 years old since i last changed it in OCT of 2006. It sat for a year from Oct 06 to Nov of 07, where it was ridden for a week. And since then it will sit until the first week in OCT. I need to get that oil out of there, don't I?!

You should be ok with the way it is.

It's been sitting for 2 years so an inspection is on call, look for dry chain, tires (dry rotting and PSI), antifreeze, over all performance.

I don't think there is a shelve life on oil.

haha, don't get me wrong, i love blue. it's just that i moved to SC and don't have a garage for the big guy down here. i feel better knowing that it's sitting on a stand, spotless with a cover over it in my old man's garage next to his C5 Corvette garage queen...our "toys".
