OK, so the game of Beer Pong itself won't actually give you herpes, but by playing the game, you have a better chance. It makes sense if you think about it, since the cups used in beer pong, which is commonly played on college campuses throughout the U.S., are re-used throughout the night, usually without being washed and are hardly replaced.
According to the Center for Disease Control, reports of the virus are up 23 percent form 2007 in people between the ages of 17 to 21.
So for all those college students gearing up for the fall, the CDC recommends playing a different game, like flip cup, where you use your own cup. Or if you totally have to play Beer Pong, the CDC recommends using the waterfall method, where you poor your beer into your mouth without touching the rim of the cup.
So remember, this fall, when you're gathered around the Beer Pong judging your next shot, to practice safe Beer Pong, to reduce your chances of contracting herpes.
