Individual Health and Dental Insurance not purchased through employer?

Anyone here purchase health and/or dental insurance on their own (not through an employer)? My girl needs to get insurance on her own since she works for a small office that doesnt offer a plan. They will give her money for insurance but she's gotta get it on her own. She's found some health plans that are decent but they don't offer dental insurance. Anyone here have or know of a provider that offers dental on individual plans?

I pay for my own insurance because i'm self-employed and use Bluecross Blueshield. I don't have dental on my plan but they do offer it.

all providers also sell indiviual plans. just check the websites. if she is a student she should be able to get it through school too.

Shes not a student. We've found individual health plans but they don't offer a dental insurance add on.

You can save a lot by increasing the deductible. It's a good deal because you still get your regular Dr visits for a $10-20 copay, your premiums are a lot lower and you only have to shell out if you have a major ER visit. And even then your liability is capped. I'm on wifey's policy now but when I was single my individual policy was cheaper than most people's company plans.

The premiums we've found seem to be in line with what we expected. But, she'd like to get dental along with health which seems to be possible only if you do a Health Savings Account.

Does she have any major pending dental work? (wisdom teeth, root canals, etc)

If not, have her compare the cost of adding dental insurance (premiums, copays, etc) versus just paying twice a year out of pocket for cleanings. Brush regularly and keep up on preventative cleanings and it may be a cheaper option (just avoid the hockey rink)

Thats the thing....she needs to get her wisdom teeth out eventually. Thats probably her main reason for wanting dental insurance. A buddy of mine is a denist so regular visits arent an issue.
