This is going to sound pretty mushy but IMO, the best meal experiences depend on company as much as the food/presentation/ambience. So if I had to think of best meals, I rank the ones where I had a fun time with someone else or a group of people. (and where I have been previously and it was just good.) In a sense, I'm more concerned about who I'm going out with than what restaurant I'm going to.
So ultimately, I don't see how any restaurant could be so amazing that it unquestionably stands head and shoulders above all others. I've been to a lot of the famous ones including the iron chef ones and sure, they were good. Amazing? Not really. I find some of the famous ones sort of gimmicky.
I have not been to the Inn at Little Wash, though... we should do a 211 run and eat there one weekend for lunch. wear all our gear and walk into their fake euro aristocractic themed room and chill for a while. Do burnounts in their parking lot as we depart. hehe.
