JayLa:Go try on different helmets at a shop. Since you have an oval head, you may find that the arai's are a better fit for you. check out their site for their different helmet shape types. I just picked up a shoei rf1000 a couple weeks ago and love it. Was rockin a hjc for 2 years and I wish I would have spent the money on a nicer helmet. It fits better, much lighter so I dont get fatigued, and the visor doesnt flip up if I turn my head.
I went down to coleman yesterday actually to try a bunch on. Thing is i want to make sure I get it right this time so I'm trying to be extra careful to get a helmet that fits right and snug. I bought a rf1000 for my first helmet but it was a large and now it moves around at high speeds. I'm not sure it was ever the right size, I prolly should have got a medium to begin w/.
I tried on the arai rx7 and profile (both oval) and they fit pretty well. In fact, in the profile I can fit into a small ( they didn't have a small rx7). Its tight...like tight...but it didn't "hurt" my head persay. It may after 20 minutes but, doesn't the helmet have to break in a bit first anyway? The medium fit great, not loose, but not as tight like the small. The guy was worried it would be too snug.
And the shark I wanted to get fit nice too, though it was a bit roomier i felt like around my ears and up top on the sides....its hard to tell exactly. That was the helmet I wanted to buy, but since fit is most important I'm not so sure anymore.
Mostly I'm just venting. I'd just don't want to have any regrets. And I want someon at the store to be like...this helmet fits you pefect, it won't break in anymore, it'll stay just like that forever and won't move around at high speeds at the track.
