    dcsportbikes european ride

Anyone up for a Europe ride next year(June 2007). Looking for some riders who want to ride from Portugal to Switzerland and back to Portugal.(this might change) But if anyone is interested let me know and i can look for bike rentals to use.(bikes: bmw f650, africa twin, varadero, panamerican etc.) You can also ship your bike to my house and then ride it. Ship it back after its done. I think thats more trouble than it's worth.

Staying in Portugal will be free since I have a house there. It's a 10 bedroom house, so plenty of space. The  rest of the tour will be hotels and maybe a little camping.

400 miles per day, with a day or two off per week to visit some cities. But this is going to be a riders tour. Definatly not a posing ride.

Roads in europe are much tighter and twistier than U.s. Definatly experienced riders territory. Drivers in Europe are much MUCH more aggresive and fast, even in twisties. You will need warm weather gear because we will be crossing over the picos de europa, pyranees and the alps. Need a rainsuit. All this stuff can be bought in portugal before leaving.

even if you get married and get fat you should still be able to come. Unless she puts your balls in a glass jar or something. ahahah

Where in Africa can you stay for free? That might be another trip altogether. Cool thing about riding in europe is you can bring your wife or girlfriend and still have fun. Not sure about africa, but it seems much harder.

It's only 45 minutes on a ferry from spain to Morocco.

Neither do I.......... I'm always broke.  But I travel so much that I wouldn't be able to plan for a trip this big in advance......at least no more than a month before.

Their is no way any woman would ever put my balls in a jar Super Angry [8o|]

I am not a BIG SACK RYDAH for nothing Cool [H]

The eurpoe ride trips is one of my dreams to accomplish

that and a trip across the US

    and a TRIP through Morocco.

So yes the part of African I was talking about is Morocco, I got play of friends all up and down that place where we can stay.

I took that Ferry from Morocco to Spain when I visited Marbella and southern spain years ago and that fairy trip was short about 1 hr on the speed boat and about 2 hours on the slow boat.

The roads in Morocco are fairly good in about 90% of the places and between all major cities.  when you go to bum fack no where is when the road get pretty bad.  But if we stick with the main roads we sould be fine.  BTW the main roads have plenty of twisties, and those ninjas drive gangsta Cool [H]

gangsta = pretty damn fast and pretty damn good Yes [Y]Yes [Y] and some of them do it on some pretty shetty carsNo [N] LOL

    Re: dcsportbikes european ride

for those concerned about this trip being too expensive TRUST ME it won't

Europe is pretty cheap when you are not staying in 5 star hotels and spending laveshly on resort type of boutiques and shet.

Just to give you an idea you can probably live pretty well on a $150 a week and that's including hotel Cool [H] of course I am not talking about 5 star hotels.  but hey I am a biker I will sleep anyhwere any place when I am tired and i need to shmooz for a couple of hours Sleep [|-)]

i travelled scandanavia for 3 wks. for $1k (not including airfare) and scandanavia is a very expensive place.  of course i stayed in hostels, ate as cheaply as possible and bought next to nothing and it was the best experience of my life.  this sounds like an adventure that would be a mistake to miss.  i believe i would like to join this.

COol man. One of the reasons I suggest getting a rental is because insurance and everything is included. If you ship your bike, you need to get insurance, and i have been unable to find an insurance company that lets you insure for like a small period. You can only get insurance for 6months. But if you ship your bike, and it comes to my house, i can get someone to stick it inside. Most companies around there will do it for you. No problem. Ill have someone there. When I bought my africa twin, they brought it over to my house the same day.

There is really no point in a list. I know I am in. :)

As far as pace.. It's going to be sedate.. Or something like that. You know, riding fast enough to have fun and still be 100% safe going around turns and stuff. I dont want to risk getting a ticket in Germany.

We are all going to need international cell phones so we can communicate if we get seperated. We can get them in the airport in Lisbon. It's cheap.

It's not as expensive as you might think. The only real expense is the airplane ticket, bike rental. With food, it's really cheap. Hotels, share a room with someone it's like 20-40$ a day.

I don't have much money, but i would rather spend it travelling than buying a new exhaust for my bike. lol

BTW, if you intend on coming on this tour i suggest you sign up for some of my long ass rides and armadillo rides. Thats the sort of style of riding i intend on doing.

Count me in too. Been over there quite a few times in cars and stuff never bikes. Promises to be fun. What time of year, i.e., what month etc. So we can schedule vactions and tickets, etc..

Also perhaps we could have some family drive cars to follow us or do you have plan for sweeps etc..
