Yea, im going to OCS, i was just giving the class number, which they break down as OCC-199, OCC-200, OCC-201 and so on.

Anyways, im not stationed or anything...just a civilian at the moment. I gotta take my PFT on thursday and then send my application to the selection board. I'll probably know if i get accepted to the Jan. class or not in the next couple of weeks. Anyways, i dont wanna clutter up this thread with my life story. I'll stay in touch with you so we can figure some stuff out come next spring.

And yes I'm interested in a race license too because i dont think I'll be riding street for awhile...

After looking at prices which one is better and more informative?????

TPM's ART or Cornerspeed for the $400 bangers

Art is cheaper...but Cornerspeed is pretty good.

one on one instruction i take it

The race course is classroom then race...however they do have a instructor lead course for race same price.

Cornerspeed is good. I think you mean Elka. Ohlins is the chit. Penske also makes good stuff, but the two function a lot differently. I don't know anything about Penske. Most importantly, make sure its set up properly for your weight, otherwise it won't do anything. And have a good shop like MRP or RAM CYCLES help you out w/ setting it up. Or send it to a real suspension tuner like Thermosman, CTR, GMD, etc.

guess you thought i had a good idea lol. i spoke to the guys at elka, the rear shock is built from scratch you just have to give them the right info, weight, riding style, riding level etc, i'm going to go with them, i'll definitely be seeing you at cornerspeed next year

    Penske.

All the vendors are very familiar with them and you can swap it to your new bike if needed for just a few inexpensive parts.

not sure if it's the best thing unless you're actually PAID to race.

You might want to check out what Mike Wheeler has to say on his website: www,rc51.org. He and Dan Kyle (www.kyleusa.com) did a LOT of research and testing of the RC51 for the first three years it was offered for sale in the U.S.. Some of the parts they developed for the '51 might not be available any longer due to the decline in the bike's popularity, but there is a lot of good information for "hot-rodding" the bike on Mike's website. Some of their findings are surprising and somewhat counter-intuitive, such as: according to their dyno testing, the RC51 makes the most power and torque with the stock airbox and air filters in place! Dan used to specialize in RC51 suspension (mostly Ohlins), but I think his business is more diversified now. I found the website back in '03 when I had a '51 and planned to race it in the A.H.R.M.A. "Battle of the Twins" and "Sound of Thunder" classes. Then I got fired, and racing was a luxury that I couldn't afford. And I still can't. Also, a Honda dealership in California (Big Valley Honda, I think) used to have racing wiring harnesses for the '51 (it would drop a few pounds and simplify the wiring).

Yeah paid my dues and been a member of ROUGE for three years now. Thanks anyway bro, There is not much on there as far as suspension but to revalve and or get a aftermarket, Dan Kyle's site is under construction.

Dan's site has been under construction for over a year now.  He is very active on the Ducati-superbikes.com site now as he has moved on from the RC-51 to the 1098/848/1198 as his "pet" project. If you need advice just call him up, he usually prefers that anyway if you have specific questions.  He is usually eager to help you and I would highly reccommend his services.  The shock he sold me was nearly perfect right out of the box, including the sag.  I think I changed two clicks of rebound only so far.

Ok seriously, my only thought is that what brand you get matters less than how it's setup. The most expensive hardware in the world won't do squat for you if it isn't set up correctly.

Got 3 bikes... 1 has Ohlins, 1 has Penske, and 1 has Elka. All 3 work just fine for me.

i bought my stuff from jon at CTR and paid a little more than I could have at other places so that he would spend the time and share the knowledge of setting up the bike for me at every track I go to. I don't set up anything really anymore. Apparently my forks only "work the best" within a few settings of their 30 or whatever click range anyway. The shock is pretty straight forward and has nice little adjusters on it that are easy to get to unlike my penske that the the collars that you used to turn to adjust preload. That was a pain in the ass.
