+10000000 agreed! I believe the hardest role to play in a movie and make it believable is that of a crazy person, and Ledger pulled it off in Hannibal Lecter fashion. I'm really interested to know how much of his bits were his idea, and what was the directors.

And yea, the pencil disappearing trick... The entire audience erupted in "Oh no way!"

Viewed this last night, absolutely awesome.  Heaths performance was spectacular, it was gritty, dark, and real.  I also like the fact that they didnt go into a back story for him too much.  It perpetuated his chaotic, violent persona.

I'll be the first to point out something I didn't like.  I think the one great thing this movie lacked was the Joker's cynical laugh.  Ledger didn't laugh anywhere NEAR as much as the Joker should.  The part where he was hanging upside down laughing was one of the best parts.

Other than that, I think he did a great job.

And (SPOILER) I was surprised to see Debo throw the detenator out of the window.  That touched me *sniff* lol

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow." -- Melody Beattie

I saw it last night... Pretty good!  I hated Batman's voice... They could have given him a voicebox or SOMETHING... Ledger was great.  All his movements, characteristics, etc... made him very believable.

They could have gotten SO many other women to play Maggie Gylenhal's character. She's Ick! ...

Yeah, I forgot to say that in my post.  My only complaint:  Batman's voice was so deep and "trying to be scary" you almost couldn't understand him sometimes.  Yeah Maggie wasn't the best choice, but thought she did a good job.  Other than all that, Great Movie!

Something else I agree with. lol  When he says one or two words it's cool, when he starts going into his sociology lessons then it's annoying.

    *SPOILER ALERT*

YES!!!!!  made the character THAT much more scary and just...  disturbing.  he was just some psycho that came from nowhere..

another cool thing that added to that..   was how his story about how he got the scars kept changing depending on who he was talking to and what situation they were in..

also..  how SUICIDAL was the joker!!!!?!!?!!!!  telling batman  "c'mon hit me, i want you to do it.." when he was riding the bike towards him..  and LAUGHING while falling off the building..

gotta be one of my favorite bad guys of all time.

I liked how the stories kept changing also.  His facial expressions and active tongue kept me watching him..  He was a very good bad guy.  Just toying with people with no regard for his own life.  Yes

The bad versus good theme was very deep in this movie.
